On Monday, July 2, 2018, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an assault complaint that occurred at a residence in Alanson. Galen Andrew Heffner, age 53, Alanson, MI, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his roommate Dwight Carson with a hammer. Heffner was charged with two felonies, one count of Assault With Intent to Murder and one count of Assault With A Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault). Heffner was also charged with two counts of Domestic Violence, both misdemeanors. Heffner remains lodged in the Emmet County Jail and bond has been set at $750,000.00 cash or surety.
