Update to Headlands Dark Sky Park damage.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kaiser Lee Gillhespy, age 24, Grand Rapids, MI., for allegedly causing the damage to the Headlands Dark Sky Park Building, Wawatam Township, according to Sheriff Pete Wallin.  On Friday, March 29, 2019, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Gillhespy allegedly fired three shots, from a long gun, into a door and window, at the Headlands Dark Sky Building and fled the scene.  The incident was caught on video by surveillance cameras.  The Emmet County Prosecutors Office issued an 8 count felony warrant for the Gillhespy.  4 counts of Weapons – Felony Firearm, 1 count of Weapons – Firearms-Discharge In or at A Building, 1 count of Malicious Destruction of Building – $1000.00 or More But Less Than $20,000.00, 1 count of Tampering With Evidence, and 1 county of Weapons – Fire – Possession of a Loaded Firearm in or Upon A Vehicle.

Gillhespy is scheduled for arraignment in 90th District Court on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
