On Sunday, June 23, 2019, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle/passenger vehicle accident, at the intersection of E. Mitchell Rd and Alcan Drive, Bear Creek Township, according to Sheriff Pete Wallin.
A 2013 Buick was eastbound on Mitchell Rd., driven by Travis Fisher, age 36, Petoskey, MI., when he attempted to turn left on to Alcan Drive, when a westbound 2001 Kawasaki Motorcycle, driven by Justin Wilson, age 20, Petoskey, MI, collided. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Petoskey Dept. of Public Safety, Resort/Bear Creek Fire Dept., Emmet County Road Commission, and Emmet County EMS.
Mitchell Rd. was closed to traffic for approximately 2 hours while investigators processed the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation.
