GETTING AROUND IN EMMET COUNTY

Emmet County does not currently operate its own public transportation. The following are available options for those needing transportation in and around Emmet County. Information on other transportation options not listed on this page can be emailed to info@emmetcounty.org for possible inclusion.

STRAITS REGIONAL RIDE (SRR)

Emmet County has contracted with SRR, a Cheboygan County transit operation, for nearly two decades. In late 2018, Emmet County Board of Commissioners entered into another contract with SRR for an expansion of service with three additional buses operating in the county. The expansion bus service, known as EMGO, launched on January 2, 2019, and operated for two full years when the Board declined to renew the EMGO contract due to budget constraints amidst the COVID pandemic. However, the longstanding SRR contract was renewed with dial-a-ride bus service continuing to be available after EMGO ends. Dispatchers at SRR encourage riders to call 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride, especially with restrictions on capacity during the COVID pandemic.

The Friendship Centers of Emmet County offers transportation for Emmet County seniors and disabled, as well as many other services to assist the elderly community.
